Soladey was invented in Japan by Dr. Yoshinori Nakagawa. The name originates from the words ‘Solar’ and ‘Dental’. Dr Nakagawa knew that negative ions could be generated from titanium when this metal was exposed to light and water. As with other industrial applications such as water purification and air filtration, ionic power is not a recent discovery. Soladey was first manufactured in the early 1980s and this light activated toothbrush is now used daily by millions of people in Japan primarily, but also now in many other countries.
How Soladey Works
When exposed to any good light source the photo-sensitive titanium rod (TI02), located in Soladey's handle, releases ions which permeate the saliva to effectively break down plaque on a molecular level. The polarity of the tooth surface is temporarily reversed preventing plaque from sticking to the surface of teeth. This Ionic action disintegrates plaque in places one cannot reach with bristles, rinse, toothpaste or interproximal devices.
BENEFITS OF USING SOLADEY
Reduces Bacteria & Plaque
Bacteria in plaque attack food, producing acid. This acid causes bad breath, tooth decay, and gum disease. Normally, saliva neutralizes this action, but when plaque builds up, it acts as a barrier, preventing the neutralizing action of the saliva.
Clinical studies prove that Soladey can stop this plaque buildup.
Working with saliva, the brush controls and reduces the bacteria responsible for plaque.
Reasons For Using Soladey
- REDUCES CAVITIES - Actually reduces bacteria that cause cavities and stops bleeding gums by the natural cleansing action of safe, free electrons emitted from the revolutionary solar conducting rod
- TEETH FEEL & LOOK CLEANER AND WHITER - Through superior cleaning ability, plaque adhesion to your teeth is reduced with Ionic action. This same Ionic action helps to remove stains from your teeth.
- TOOTHPASTE IS UNNECESSARY - Effective plaque removal is possible without toothpaste; ordinary light activates the patented semi-conductor rod and cleans your teeth without abrasives or chemicals
- AFFORDABLE & ECONOMICAL - With sensible care, the handle and rod will last a lifetime, requiring only inexpensive replaceable heads. The replacement heads provide all the benefits of Soladey at a comparable cost of a regular toothbrush.
Other Benefits:
- No batteries required - No moving parts to replace - No toothpaste required
- Titanium rod & handle may last a lifetime - Head is replaceable
- Light, saliva and brushing action powers it
- Environmentally friendly, saves money on water and electricity
- Proper dental hygiene can help to improve general health and well being
- Brightens your smile as you brush, works on dental stains
- Convenient for students, business people on the move, busy families and active lifestyles
- Use anywhere, carry it in your handbag, lunch box, briefcase or rucksack
- Helps to create an Anti-Bacterial solution that combats germs even after brushing
Health Benefits
Chemicals are not necessary to clean your teeth and are not more effective
Your mouth is the most direct route to your bloodstream and most people today are, still using toothpastes which contain harmful chemicals. (Educate yourself and find out what chemicals are in the products you are putting into your mouth.)
There are many opinions about fluoride out there today and we urge you to do your own research on the studies which have been done so that you can make up your own mind.
Where do you think these chemicals go when they go down the drain...back into the environment...and we all wonder why our health and the environment is going downhill.

Eliminate Plaque more effectively than any product you currently use
The latest clinical studies from several universities have illustrated that the major reason North Americans today have blood disorders and digestive disorders, is a direct result of the bacteria in the plaque in your mouth and the quality of your oral care.
Soladey is the most effective technology today, removing plaque on a molecular level, and keeping it off more effectively than any toothbrush you are currently using.
The Key Technique for Best Results
For best results, brush all the surfaces of your teeth thoroughly to remove any surface plaque
Keep as much light in your mouth as possible while brushing (60 watts or greater – 1 meter or closer to source)
Then concentrate on the inside bottom row of teeth, brushing lightly with a good light source, until the Ionic process begins to work
This Ionic process can be identified as a natural white paste that foams & builds up in your mouth
Your teeth will feel super polished when done…like you stepped out of the chair from a cleaning with your hygienist
Soak your Soladey daily in Hydrogen Peroxide or Grape Seed Oil for 2 – 5 minutes, in order to keep it free of harmful microbes or bacteria.
Replacing the Brush Head of Your Soladey Ionic Toothbrush
Keep your Soladey toothbrush operating at maximum efficiency
Replace the brush portion regularly, as often as you would replace a standard toothbrush.
Dentists recommend every 2 - 3 months, depending on your brushing habits
If the bristles become frayed, or soft and mashed, replace immediately
The stiffer the bristles, the better the Ionic reaction created
Keep in mind that you do not have to brush hard…it is the gentle flicking action which creates the Ions
The figure below illustrates the proper method of replacing the brush:

Detachment: Pull the head and handle straight off, do not twist
Insertion: Insert the head into the handle firmly, do not twist
CAUTION:
After use, if toothpaste was used, completely rinse Soladey to remove toothpaste
Toothpaste may cover the semiconductor, which blocks light from the metal rod
If this happens, you will not get the best possible results from Soladey
Do not separate the brush from the handle except for the purpose of replacement
Do not insert the semiconductor into your mouth without the brush head firmly attached
DO NOT SWALLOW YOUR SALIVA
DO NOT BRUSH FORCEFULLY: the gentle brushing action, combined with a good light source and your own saliva is all that is required for best results. It is important to understand that it is the light brushing action that creates the Ionization process in your mouth and not forceful brushing of your dental enamel. This is much easier on your dental enamel than using an abrasive such as toothpaste.
Detailed Directions on How to Use Your Soladey Ionic Toothbrush
If you prefer to have that “minty fresh” feeling while you are brushing:
Rinse before and/or after brushing, with a natural mouthwash
Use essential oil peppermint drops or your preferred flavor…a little dab on the bristles is all you need
There are several mouthwash and toothpaste products on the market today that do not contain harmful chemicals
We do not recommend toothpaste, as it is an abrasive and can coat the rod which makes this toothbrush work
After rinsing with mouthwash:
Wet the bristles and semiconductor with cold water
Brush your teeth LIGHTLY and thoroughly
The only difference is that you should try to keep the head of the toothbrush and rod in the light as much as possible
Allow as much light into your mouth as possible while brushing
The better the light source, the more effective Soladey is
The saliva in your mouth will turn to a white paste color, your own natural toothpaste
Swish this charged saliva through the spaces in your teeth to help wash away any loose plaque particles the Ionization process loosened
Your saliva should stay in your mouth until you feel you should spit, in order to continue brushing effectively
This natural toothpaste will form again quickly after rinsing your mouth
Repeat 2 - 5 times every time you brush
Soak toothbrush in Hydrogen Peroxide or Grape Seed Oil Extract when done to kill any bacteria or microbes on your toothbrush
